WOYWW No. 139

I can't believe we're a month into the New Year and that means I haven't posted on my blog for four months! Somehow, the time has raced past me with so much happening, excluding my creative time. I've missed it so much, and enjoyed making my greeting cards for Christmas and the New Year. Even though they were an imperative, they were also a great excuse to be creating rather than putting it down the priority list. I'll put up a back-dated post about them.

I missed sharing comments with friends too. If you wonder what this desk-hopping about, follow this link to Julia Dunnit at the hub of it all.

For now, here is my first birthday card for 2012.

The hammered card stock makes a square card with two features. At the top left hand is foil coloured with alcohol inks and dry embossed with birds in tree folder. Light sanding brings the edges of the embossed pattern back to silver. At the bottom right is a favourite quote from poet Rabindranath Tagor stamped with green Staz-On on gloss card. The edges are shaded with Colorbox chalk inks and a colour duster. Inside, the message says "A little bird told me it is your birthday".

Best wishes to all,
Ros.

Hi Ros, The card is lovely, especially the alcohol ink colours. Nice to see you back in blogland. I've just had a "summer cold/flu". Very annoying but better than in the middle of winter! Had a big art day yesterday. Will try and put something on my blog later. Hope you are well, RosA

Hi Ros welcome back indeed! I had not found your name back on the list - to be honest am snowed under with callig work, keeping up with the comments on blog or doing stuff at home etc. (hours in the yard today - it was fine!) only get one maybe two goes at the list on Julia's blog. I find it a bit annoying sometimes but simply not enough hours and guess that is why you had been silent had checked back a few times too :D
Wow - that is my response to your a card - do I love those colours - what colours are the alcohol ink? and where do you get the foil from? have saved the foil lids and used them okay but not a shop here I can get things from.. or seen it on a site take care. thanks so much for popping over, and for sharing. Happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz. x #21

I love both those cards but think the foil one is my fav because of the intense colours - lush!
Your comment on my blog made me hoot! A cow with a musket - where DID she get that one from?? LOL I feel like that about the intricacies of stamping, so we're honours even, I think. My mum always said, no matter how neatly dressed she sent me out, I always looked like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards when I returned!! I'm still the same, not one of life's neat people :D

Those colours are so beautiful and really shine out. I don't have any alcohol inks so that technique will have to wait for a while. I am seriously behind on my visits this week, but my room is nearly tidy after a lot of hard work so that is a plus. xx Maggie #112

Such a beautiful card, Ros. The colors you chose belong to my favorite ones, they are calming. Perfectly for Tagore's poem.

Hi Ros, just noticed that you are back posting. Sometimes that happens to me also, so many commitments no time to keep up your blog. I just posted again after being silent for 2 months. I like the colors of the alcohol ink card. What colors did you use? Both are beautiful cards!
