Vale Dixie

My darling Dixie Cat died in my arms an hour ago. How I will miss her - do already but we had a lovely morning together amongst the daffodils. She's 'asleep' in the chair beside me. The vet came to the house thank goodness, and made sure she departed peacefully after we have all struggled with her immune system collapsing bit by bit.

This is the English corner of my garden, taken a year ago but it looks pretty much the same now.

Now I have no office manager, no garden supervisor, and no studio muse. Feeling so glum, but thankful for the last twelve years with this rangy, curious, talkative cat who believed she could fly if only....

"On a clear day, I can see forever...."    What handsome whiskers to match the formal attire.
Dixie, the earth is soft and later on, I'll bury you under the wattle that's in flower, where you loved to sit and just watch.
Love to you my four-footed soul-mate, Ros.

knowing that was hard to write, but it helps to share the ache in your heart right now Ros'. Your Dixie had a good life, in a good place, and luckily remains there at rest. Take care of you

Ah Ros, what a lovely way to say goodbye, and really consoling that Dixie can stay at home. Hugs to you dear gal, it's hard. Reach out if you need company won't you.

Oh Ros, I'm crying here too. The consolation is that I bet Dixie had the most wonderful life with you. Sadly our beloved furry friends always take a piece of our hearts with them when they go to The Rainbow Bridge.

'Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh I know how you feel.

Best to let it all come if it be through pictures like this or a good old cry.

Sitting here with tears rolling down my face....I know how it is to lose a cat...they are only small in stature but large in personality. Sending you big hugs and lots of soothing vibes.

Oh no, oh I can imagine how you must be feeling. But, I think you were expecting this, never-the-less it is difficult when it happens. You did the right thing getting the vet to come to Dixie. I would have done the same, whatever the cost.
Thank you for your very welcome comment.
Do you have another cat, or will you get another?
They do become friends, don't they?
Take care, Ros.
Try not to be too sad!
